Advancing Energy Solutions
A balanced and sensible energy policy uses a variety of resources to meet our energy demands. A complementary mix of renewable and traditional energy resources helps ensure a reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible supply of electricity.
- Kansas utilities are committed to renewable energy. Kansas electric power is expected to come from 10-percent renewable resources by 2010.
- Utilities and transmission providers must continue to invest in transmission resources that can deliver Kansas' plentiful wind resources to consumers inside and outside of the state. Transmission related to new baseload power plants will accelerate the development of large scale wind energy projects across Kansas.
- Low-cost power helps to ensure that all Kansas industries, including ethanol and biofuels producers, can succeed.
As America's demand for energy increases, we are driven to use a more diverse mix of our nation's traditional and renewable resources. By utilizing the abundant natural energy sources our state and our nation have, we can become more energy independent, promote economic development, and provide an affordable, reliable supply of power in an environmentally-friendly way for decades to come. Kansas utilities - in conjunction with our state's farmers, ranchers, and landowners – have set a bold vision to advance energy solutions to meet our growing energy demands.
